Saxophonist David Sholl and guitarist Milt Reder have been a vital part of the Boston music scene for nearly thirty years. Together, they formed the core of the multi-award-winning Barrence Whitfield and the Savages, Boston's top rated club act of the 1990s, which went on to many world tours with fellow artists Los Lobos, George Thorogood, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Taj Mahal, the Pogues, and many others. Their next band was the instrumental combo Four Piece Suit, best known as the sound of HBO's "Sex and the City", with a reputation for uniquely blending Jazz and Rock to get their highly distinctive sound. Individually David and Milt have worked with some of the world's great artists, including Dr.John, Big Mama Thornton, Bo Diddley, Natalie Merchant, Susan Tedeschi, and Latin music legend Danny Rivera, just to name a few. Together they have composed an extensive catalog of original music, and have created new arrangements of many familiar tunes, done in an entirely new way. David and Milt enjoy putting a new spin on melodies from great writers like Lennon & McCartney, Henry Mancini, and George Gershwin, keeping the classics fresh, mixing in little-known or forgotten gems, and creating their own musical universe with tunes like the Film Noir theme "Regrettable" or the slapstick romp "Sloppy Shopping". Their latest project frames this unique music in a very simple and direct setting--a sax and guitar duo. This format is perfect for more intimate performance situations--smaller and quieter than the full band, but with all the musicality that has earned David Sholl and Milt Reder their reputation as masters of their genre.
