Sharq (meaning "East" in Arabic) is a traditional Arab and Middle Eastern ensemble with an authentic and retrospective sound. Lead by acclaimed international percussionist Karim Nagi, the group uses traditional acoustic instruments and adapted outfits to render that classic sound and look from the past. But their delivery is anything other than old. Sharq's music has the improvisatory dynamism of a jazz band, and the fluidity of a chamber ensemble. Sharq is available as a duet, trio, quartet or sextet. |
